- In a wonderful example of “you never know unless you ask,” powerhouses Neko Case, k.d. lang, and Laura Veirs are teaming up for a collaborative album, titled case/lang/veirs, out June 17th via ANTI- Records. Check out their first single “Atomic Number” below, as well as an album trailer. A few years ago, lang emailed the other two simply stating, “I think we should make a record together.” Case confirms the answer was obvious: “Laura and I both responded immediately. There was no question.” The album was recorded in Portland, and produced by Tucker Martine. Catch the power trio here in Seattle on Thursday, June 30th at the Woodland Park Zoo. (Tickets on sale TBD.) [Under the Radar]

(Learn more about the collaboration on the KEXP Blog here.) In the clip, Westerberg takes on the persona of “Dale Westerberg” as he teaches you how to write a song. Watch and learn: [Pitchfork]
- London trio The Big Pink share a fuzzed-out single from their upcoming EP Empire Underground. Check out the gritty reverb-heavy track “Decoy” below. The Empire Underground EP is out March 4th on B3SCI. [Stereogum]
- Tomorrow night, none other than Jack White (of The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and The Dead Weather) will make a guest appearance on the season finale of ABC’s reboot of The Muppets. A press release explains, “After her stint in the hospital, Miss Piggy and Kermit reevaluate their relationship, and Kermit turns to Jack for help and advice.” Ooookay.
